For much of her life, Sophie has been under the spell of needles and thread. Growing up watching her maternal grandmother who was a fine seamstress in her day, Sophie has dabbled in everything from cross-stitch, dress making, doll making and baby bibs to quilting. For Sophie, quilting is about taking age-old traditions, blocks and techniques and giving them a new modern style. It is about making handmade textiles to add warmth and homely vibes to the most contemporary settings. This passion for style in quilting has seen the launch of Sew Swish Designs by Sophie Dawson in April 2019. Sophie’s aim is to delight, inspire and take you on a journey one quilt at a time. Her soulful, eclectic, colourful and energetic designs turn simple shapes into fabulous design.
My aim is to make a positive impact in the quilting community; to delight, inspire, educate and make quilts from the heart. I believe the world needs more people with patchwork as their hobby!
